Chlamydia Testing

The Drop-In offers free Chlamydia Testing which is part of the national C-Swap programme. This service is free and confidential.

Chlamydia is a very common Sexual Transmitted Infection amongst young people and it affects both men and women. 1 in 10 young people tested have Chlamydia. Often people don’t know they have it because there are usually no signs or symptoms. Chlamydia can be treated by a simple course of antibiotics but if it is left untreated it can cause infertility and other complications.

The test is a quick and simple urine test – you just need to wee in a bottle. It is then sent to a screening centre and you will usually get your results within 2 weeks.

If the test is positive (this means they have found Chlamydia in your urine) someone from the C-Swap team will contact you and arrange an appointment for you to get some treatment.

Chlamydia testing is available in our Drop-In on the days and times we are open – just ask a worker about it when you come down.

Remember Chlamydia and other Sexually Transmitted Infections can be prevented if you use a condom when you have sex.
